RACHEL GATES IS THE ARTIST AND INVENTOR OF LELURA’S PAINTING MOTIFS AND DRAWINGS

When I pick up a pen for my line drawings or when I grab a brush for my fractal paintings, I first listen to the air around me.  In the air, I hear a symphony of creativity and inspiration that leads me to a pen or a brush.  When I paint, I am listening to a melody of silence that emerges in the abstract paintings motifs that create the patterns that make the Lelura designs in scarves and duvet covers.  Sometimes the peaceful air around me helps me create the essence of a landscape that will become a line drawing or scarf.

Creating these types of art come to me as naturally as breathing or walking along a beach trail.  Living among so much striking beauty that exists on the Oregon coast fuels my creative spirt.  It enables me to draw the essentials of life that I perceive as well as express the unique and natural swirls of my fractal paintings.

I have undergraduate B.S degree from the University of Oregon in Fine and Applied Arts. I earned a MBA Degree from the University of Phoenix, and I was a scholarship recipient and student at Savannah College of Art and Design for a MFA degree in Painting.

My work has been in various shows and festivals locally on the southwest coast of Oregon. Over the years, I have held several volunteer positions at the Pelican Bay Art Association such as a board member, Chair of the local art show or the Gallery Coordinator. I also have some judge appointments for local shows. As an art teacher I have taught several kids art classes for the local art community.  Lastly, as an artist, I hold numerous copyrights for paintings and patterns, and I currently hold a trademark for Lelura in scarves.
